Clinical Intern, University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill

Alexis is a Clinical Student Intern from the University of North Carolina Chapel Hill where she is in the process of earning her Master of Social Work degree. She earned her Bachelor of Social Work degree in 2018 from the University of Kentucky. After graduation, she lived on the Mississippi Gulf Coast from 2019 to 2022 where she was a Wraparound Facilitator working with youth and their families. Eventually Alexis decided to work in community mental health and assisted adults with severe and persistent mental illness. She is a certified community support specialist.

Alexis is committed to creating a therapeutic environment that is full of compassion and collaboration. Navigating life can be challenging and feel isolating during certain seasons. She is passionate about helping others develop their inner resiliency, establish healthy boundaries, and process through their unique traumas at their own pace through Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT). Alexis is intentional in creating a productive and comfortable working relationship to meet the needs of clients. She has special interest in working with those of the military and veteran communities and the unique lifestyle and stressors that are associated with being a part of those communities.

In her spare time, Alexis enjoys cooking, reading by a pool, being with her dogs- Ava and Duncan- spending quality time with her husband, and finding where the best French fries are.
