Brenna Puryear

Clinical Intern, University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill

Breanna (she/her) is a Clinical Student Intern at Three Oaks Behavioral Health and Wellness. She has a B.S. in Social Work and is currently completing her Master of Social Work at UNC Chapel Hill. She has previous experience in inpatient mental health, advocacy, and crisis intervention.

Looking to start therapy can be a daunting and vulnerable step, and Breanna understands the courage it takes to reach out for support. She hopes to create a safe, curious, and inviting place where you can explore what it looks like to find healing and wholeness. She recognizes both the immense beauty and pain that often comes from being human and finds it a privilege to be invited into your story. Her hope is that you would come to know that all of your story matters, even the parts you might like to forget.

Breanna is passionate about helping those navigating trauma (including religious trauma), disordered eating, body image, anxiety, perfectionism, identity development, and life transitions. She loves working with emerging and young adults (ages 16-30), but also works with adults of all ages. Breanna is committed to walking alongside clients as they find peace with their bodies, others, and the world around them. In session, Breanna works from a person-centered, holistic, and collaborative approach, often pulling from strengths-based and mindfulness theories. She is LGBTQIA+ affirming and embraces a Health at Every Size philosophy.

In her free time, Breanna loves going to used bookstores, reading, and trying new foods from Trader Joe’s. She is a big fan of art and creativity and loves visiting the mountains of Virginia.
