Sarah Litzinger (she/her), MSW, LCSWA

Outpatient Psychotherapist in Apex

Works with ages 4-18

Sarah is thrilled to be a part of the Three Oaks team as an outpatient psychotherapist! Her passion lies in grief and bereavement support, as well as child therapy. She heavily applies self-empowerment and mindfulness approaches to her work, and cannot wait to join clients on their path to healing.

Sarah is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker Associate (LCSWA P020561) who earned her Bachelor’s of Social Work Degree from Appalachian State University and her Master’s of Social Work Degree from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. She holds a Licensed Clinical Social Work Associate certificate from North Carolina’s Social Work Certification and Licensure Board.

Sarah has had the privilege of supporting caregivers of children and youth with medical complexities through grief, bereavement, life transitions, and adjustment to illness. She also has experience in the public education system working with children (ages 4-11) to create positive behavioral patterns and establish healthy attachments. This work helped these youth build resilience and skills to persevere through transitions and conflict. Sarah enjoys collaborating with families and social supports to ensure children get the support they need.

These experiences ignited Sarah’s passion for working with grief and bereavement, life transitions, and development of emotional regulation skills. Sarah uses evidence-based practices including Motivational Interviewing, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy.

Sarah enjoys spending time with her friends, family, and dog. In her freetime, she likes to read and watch television shows. Sarah is always looking for recommendations on new movies to see and restaurants to try!

It can be difficult to share your story with someone and trust them in working with your child. Sarah empowers clients to set the pace in their own therapeutic work and strongly believes that everyone has within them the strength to overcome challenges and create positive change.   Children are our future and it is critical to guide them onto their own path of self-discovery. Sarah looks forward to joining you and your child on this journey.
