Fay Davis (she/her), MSW, LCSWA
Outpatient Psychotherapist at Midtown Raleigh
Hi, I am so happy you’re here! I'm Fay and I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker Associate. I'm thrilled to be a part of the Three Oaks team as an Outpatient Psychotherapist.
My passion lies in child and teen therapy. I work with kiddos and their parents to help them navigate complex emotions and experiences that may feel “too big” and scary for them to handle themselves. In the therapeutic space, I create an environment where they feel understood, empowered, and free to be (and discover) themselves.
I earned my Bachelor of Arts in Psychology with minors in Spanish and Child & Youth Well-being from Winthrop University and my Master of Clinical Social Work from University of Houston (Go Coogs!). I have received training and supervision in Play Therapy and specific approaches such as Child-Centered Play Therapy and Cognitive Behavioral-Based Play Therapy. I have completed over 120 hours of play therapy training.
My specialties include helping those struggling with identity confusion, adoption/blended family related adjustment issues, anxiety, depression, OCD, self-esteem, body image, trauma, life transitions, relationship dynamics, behavioral concerns, and stress.
With children and adolescents, I utilize Child-Centered Play Therapy using toys, art-making, musical instruments, and boardgames to help children build self-confidence, express themselves, develop emotional regulation, and more. Play therapy allows children a space to process feelings without them needing to have the words to explain what’s going on internally like in traditional talk therapy.
With teens and emerging adults, I utilize creative approaches like art, music, movement, and nature-based interventions combined with Person-Centered Therapy, Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TFCBT), and Narrative Therapy. I approach treatment uniquely for each client with a foundation of deep empathy, curiosity, and acceptance.
I'm particularly passionate about supporting individuals across diverse backgrounds, who bring their lived experiences and cultural values as members of BIPOC, LGBTQIA+, and immigrant communities to the therapeutic space. I’ve worked with clients to navigate life stressors, racial trauma, and other obstacles they may face based on societal/political climates. As a holder of many identities (woman, Person of Color, adopted, etc.), I understand the complexity and confusion that comes with trying to understand who you are and hold space for every part at a young age. I honor every aspect of your identity and welcome you to bring the whole you into the therapeutic space.
When I'm not in the therapy room, you can find me watching old movies, connecting with nature, hugging my two pets – Obie and Sunshine, and shopping for new toys or office snacks (for therapeutic reasons of course)!
I believe in the strength within each child to overcome challenges and create positive change. If you're ready to take the next step toward your child receiving therapeutic support, please don't hesitate to connect with me! I’m excited to join you on your journey.
