Mackenzie Almond (she/her), LCMCH
Outpatient Psychotherapist in Midtown
Hi! I'm Mackenzie and I'm excited to be a part of the Three Oaks team. I am passionate about creating a safe space for discussing the entire range of human emotions. I have worked for years with the spectrum of suicidality, with a focus being to bring a light to the darkness, working to prevent people from falling through the cracks, and providing a space for people to openly discuss what is really happening without fear. Additionally, I have focused my work on grief and loss. I have also worked extensively with depression, anxiety, personality disorders, bipolar disorder, life transitions, grief/loss, self-harm, trauma, and addiction.
I focus on finding the balance in processing what is happening and learning skills to manage difficult times in our lives. I believe every person deserves a unique approach to building their version of a “life worth living.” Those working with me will build confidence in their ability to cope with the trying times in life.
I received my Bachelor of Science in Psychology from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and my Master of Arts in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Wake Forest University Graduate School. I hold a license in clinical mental health counseling (LCMHC). I received Dialectical Behavior Therapy training through Psychwire in 2019 and became a Certified Grief Professional in 2020. I have an extensive history working in Intensive Outpatient and Partial Hospitalization Programs as a Lead Psychotherapist and Director of Mental Health. Through specialized training, conferences, and over eight years of working with crises and suicidality, I am committed to helping those in distress and/or suicidality learn to manage their symptoms in an environment of compassion and understanding. I have focused my training on the assessment, intervention, and treatment of those with passive, active, acute, and chronic suicidality, aiming to help individuals across the entire spectrum of suicidality. I am a member of People Address and Understanding Suicide Experiences (PAUSE) and the International Association for Suicide Prevention, volunteer with the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention, Living Beyond Suicide Initiative, and has volunteered as crisis support for NAMI’s Survivor’s of Suicide Attempts support group (SOSA).
When not in the office, I enjoy spending days at the lake with my husband and son full of sunshine and water. I enjoy playing pickleball, pilates, CrossFit, listening to music, and learning new recipes to try out.
