Mia Concepcion (she/her), MSW, LCSWA

Outpatient Psychotherapist

works with ages 14-35

Hello! I’m Mia, and I’m honored to be part of the Three Oaks team as a new clinician. My passion lies in helping others see themselves on the other side of change as they embark on the unpredictable journey of self-realization, growth, and freedom. The road to change begins with the belief in oneself—and that belief is often fortified by the presence of someone else who sees your potential, even when you’re still finding it yourself. In our work together, I aim to be that kind of presence.

My approach to therapy is eclectic, drawing from a range of modalities—such as motivational interviewing—tailored to each person’s unique needs, goals, and the specific challenges we’re addressing. I take a client-centered stance, while staying open to learning and integrating new methods if they best serve your growth.

I earned my B.A. in Psychology from Hampton University and my Master’s in Clinical Social Work from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. During my graduate years, I trained at the UNC Child and Adolescent Outpatient Clinic, working closely with children, teens, and parents through a hands-on, collaborative model. My earlier career as a middle school teacher shaped my patience, creativity, and problem-solving skills—tools I now bring into therapy. In addition, teaching dance has taught me the power of helping people reconnect with themselves, recognize their own potential, and believe in their capacity for growth.

When I’m not in session, you’ll often find me taking or teaching dance classes, spending time with friends and family, or engaging with my community—supporting local events, catching up with neighbors, and soaking in the life around me. I also make space for what I call a “sacred pause”—moments of rest and reflection found in nature, through journaling, or on a long run.

I believe in the resilience each person carries to overcome challenges and create positive change. Together, the journey can be transformative. If you’re ready to take the first step toward healing, please don’t hesitate to connect with me. I look forward to joining you on this journey.
