Riah KL (he/him)
Clinical Intern, North Carolina Central University
Hi! I’m Riah KL (he/him), and I’m super pumped to be joining Three Oaks Behavioral Health as a Clinical Intern. I look forward to the opportunity to work with you and/or your family during this season of your life.
I’m currently receiving my Master’s in Clinical Mental Health Counseling at North Carolina Central University, where I also completed my Bachelor’s degree in History. My background in history and education helps me approach counseling with an enormous appreciation for people’s stories. An understanding in how our pasts shape us and how understanding those narratives can lead to healing and growth.
Life is challenging! And sometimes you just need… someone. Someone to talk to, connect with, someone to carve out space to invest in you. To really see you. I believe in creating a space where you feel seen. Heard and supported. Where we can explore challenges together in a way that feels both safe and empowering.
My theoretical approach (which includes CBT, person-centered, narrative, solution-focused, and feminist frameworks) centers around personal growth, self-awareness, and the power of storytelling.
I enjoy working with teens and adults (ages 13 to 40) from all backgrounds. My areas of special interest include depression, anxiety, trauma, life transitions, and other interpersonal issues. I see therapy as a collaborative process, and my goal is to walk alongside you as you navigate life’s ups and downs, reconnect with your strength, and move toward the version of yourself you’re striving to become.
