Tessa Miller (she/her), LCMHCA

Outpatient Psychotherapist in South Durham

Hi! My name is Tessa, and I am an Outpatient Psychotherapist at the South Durham location of Three Oaks Behavioral Health & Wellness.

I work with adults of all ages presenting with a range of concerns including anxiety, depression, life transitions, body-image, PTSD, and trauma. I completed my training at North Carolina Central University, a program that emphasizes a Multicultural and Social Justice approach to therapy.

I am dedicated to creating a therapeutic space that honors the impact of intersectional identities on individual experience and mental wellness.  My work is grounded in the belief that healing is not only personal but also connected to the broader systems that shape our lives.

In our sessions, I draw from a range of approaches tailored to your unique needs. My foundation lies in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), combined with Psychodynamic and attachment-based perspectives. I focus on the influence of early attachment experiences on the thoughts, beliefs, and behaviors you carry today—helping you gain deeper insight and develop tools for lasting change. I incorporate a trauma-informed approach into all my work with individuals.

I have experience working with individuals from a wide variety of backgrounds, and I strive to provide affirming, culturally responsive care. As a BIPOC and LGBTQ+ allied therapist, I am committed to supporting you in feeling seen, heard, and empowered in your healing journey.
