Maret Ellington, MSW, LCSWA
Outpatient Psychotherapist
Maret is scheduling clients virtually via telehealth.
Hello! My name is Maret (she/her) and I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker Associate (P019262) serving as an Outpatient Psychotherapist via Telehealth here at Three Oaks! I attended UNC Wilmington for undergrad studying French and Criminology which led to attending graduate school at NC State University for a Master’s in Social Work.
I started my social work career in the public school system where I worked with students to navigate interpersonal relationships, emotions, identity and self-esteem, building healthy boundaries, and achieving goals relating to academics, social/emotional well-being, and other areas of desired growth. Working one-on-one with students inspired my transition into the therapeutic setting; I was able to continue working with late-adolescents in both group, individual, and family sessions!
I am excited to now be working with both teens and adults - I believe there’s no time like the present to invest in yourself and that no matter what is bringing you to therapy, all parts of you are welcome here 🙂
I enjoy working with clients on life transitions, emotion identification and regulation, interpersonal relationships, self-esteem, identity formation and core-value development, setting boundaries, and managing stress.
I aim to empower my clients through a strengths-based approach alongside empathy and compassion. I use a variety of therapeutic styles including Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, talk therapy, and I also like to incorporate activities for mindfulness, expressive arts, and self-compassion.
In my spare time, I love to be outside, hang out with friends, listen to music, take care of my plant babies, and go to farmers markets!
