Clinical Intern, Liberty University
My name is Ruby Sims and I have the pleasure of joining Three Oaks Behavioral Health & Wellness as a graduate student intern. I am currently in my last year of graduate school completing the Master of Arts in Clinical Mental Health Counseling program at Liberty University. While engaging in counseling services, I will be under the clinical supervision of Leah Sampson, MSW, LCSW, LCMHC-QS. I received my Bachelor of Science degree in Recreational Therapy from East Carolina University & I am both a Licensed Recreational Therapist (LRT) and a Certified Therapeutic Recreation Specialist (CTRS).
I believe that therapy begins with an open and trusting environment where a client feels safe and respected. I find it important to always put the needs of the client first, supporting them and helping them discover the positive attributes they have inside. By providing empathy and a judge-free environment, I hope to diligently work with others and support them along their journey. I have an array of interests stemming from Trauma, Depression, Anxiety, Life Transitions, Self Esteem and Anger Management. From personal experience, I specialize in working with individuals who have acute psychiatric conditions and individuals experiencing depression, anxiety and trauma. I enjoy working with a great variety of individuals and am LGBTQ+ allied. I believe in a welcoming and relaxed therapeutic approach to help support individuals on their life journey.
My services are offered on a sliding scale. I look forward to hearing from you!
